I was so honored to be featured in the “Inspire Me” column in the December issue of Traditional Home Magazine. The whole shoot was like an extended flashback, as it reunited me with photographer Werner Straube, whom I met many years ago when assisting on photo shoots. Ironically, the last time I saw Werner we were working on a Holiday catalog, and I was wrapping gifts for him then as well. We have received a number of requests for more details about the wrapping tips I offered in the article. Here are some great sources and answers to those request:
Tip #4: Skip the ribbon and use brightly colored masking tape instead.
I love these Japanese tapes (pictured top and bottom left) they are available online through the MOMA store and at DWR, they are a bit more refined and the colors are rich. However, I am also fond of these artist tapes (pictured right) that are a great bang for your buck and the colors pop. You can find them at Pearl Paint. That is also a good place to get my glue stick of choice. Which leads us to:
Tip #7: Use a glue stick, (I) swear it’s easier!
And I really do. It is something we started doing here at Snow & Graham when we wrap gifts for photo shoots. No one wants to see the tape on perfectly wrapped presents, and double stick can be a little cumbersome. The Scotch Clear Wrinkle Free glue stick works great. Sure there are the fun wrist dispensers and the precut tape tabs, scrap-bookers might recommend the Memory Tape Runner, but I encourage you to try a glue stick. All of these options are available at Paper Source. And since my boys are too young to read, let alone find mommy’s website, I will share my pics for my Tip#1

Tip#1: Assign a signature paper to each child so that they can easily identify their gifts under the tree.
It’ll be a Candy Land Christmas at my house this year. I’m using #1743 Gumdrops for my littlest one and #1735 Cocoa Cups for my husband. #1736 Candy Canes will be perfect for my oldest, who is really loving the peppermint treat this year.

love these tips, is it possible to get the other tips? I can’t find the actually article online anywhere at Traditional Home. I especially like the idea of one wrapping paper per person, very fun and cute (and such pretty paper!)
I owe you the other tips Kelly! Stay tuned….
