Right after Buck was born I had a huge wave of inspiration. It was a good thing, as we were putting the finishing touches on our Holiday Collection and getting our 2013 Calendar Series in order. What was not on the agenda was this Botanical Calendar. But inspiration struck me and when I was supposed to be polishing up our snowy images for Holiday, I kept playing with radiant white blooms.
I blame it on a particularly beautiful spring and the time I had to enjoy it. My “maternity leave” gave me the opportunity to walk my big boys to school most days, and on those walks I would marvel at all the spring flowers that were popping up. Each week there was something new. First the fritillaria, then the daffodils and magnolias, my boys bearing with me as I stopped to capture them with my iPhone. When inspiration strikes I have to seize the moment.
I am thrilled we were able to make this calendar happen for 2103. It will always remind me of Buck’s earliest days and those walks with my boys and taking the time to soak it all in.
