Earlier this month we set up “shop” for a few days at the Javits Center for the New York International Gift Fair. Preparing for, setting up and working a trade show is a hefty feat, but one that is as rewarding as it is demanding. I always try to embrace our booth design as an opportunity to share a new perspective on Snow & Graham designs and products. Last January I focused on what inspired the designs, putting up color chips, photos and initial sketches of the new and featured patterns. This year I wanted to have our booth to inspire our customers and the great news is it seemed to do just that.

I have always had a soft spot for silhouettes. Complicated and dynamic subjects reduced to their essence in one simple flat form is something I try to achieve in most of my illustrations, however silhouettes in the traditional sense have never quite fit in my product line. I saw our Gift Fair booth as an opportunity to embrace my love of this cut paper convention and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result.
We used the S&G “family” as our models – even my dog made it in the arrangement, but I think silhouettes of objects (chairs, pitchers, flatware) would be equally striking. This was by far our most photographed and asked about display. Many of our customers wanted to know just how we put it together and had fun picking out who was who on the wall.

The green walls were inspired by our new Daisy wrapping paper. The fresh shock of color was a welcome reminder that spring is not so far off. I’m not certain I could live in a room painted this color, but for just five days it was a happy place to be.
We have been busy shipping out orders to our retailers across the country – so many of the new designs you see pictured above may be at a store near you. To find S&G near you, please visit the STORES section of our website.
