Broadway Paper

Last Monday I spent the day in Milwaukee making and installing these H U G E paper poinsettias with Kate and her friendly crew at Broadway Paper. It was a welcome change of pace and just the kind of creative (and physical) challenge I like to tackle. The result was even better than I envisioned it – thanks in huge part to the scale and polish of this inspired space.

The store is a paper lovers dream, filled with all the stars of the stationery galaxy from the stalwarts like Crane and Graphic Image to fresher faces like Gold Teeth Brooklyn and Rifle Paper Co. Kate has the mix just right and I am certain that if you needed a card for your design savviest friend or your most etiquette conscious aunt you would find a perfect fit at Broadway Paper.

And of course there is an ample supply of Snow & Graham on hand which is enough to make me blush. One of the highlights of the day for me was meeting the customers who came in and bought S&G cards and papers. A husband buying a card for his wife, a cute guy buying a card for his grandpa and a woman who was excited to find our the Winter Tweets paper as she loves the original Tweets year round.

Kate was a trooper and very open to my vision of ginormous paper flowers for the store’s windows- which until that morning she had only heard me describe over the phone. And she deserves even more props for helping me make said flowers.

Thanks, Kate! I hope the flowers are the centerpiece of a fruitful Holiday season!

  1. Way back in ’06(?), before I was even engaged, we visited Milwaulkee for the Frozen Four hockey tournament and discovered Broadway Paper..I remember being positively giddy with inspiration…at the time I would have had no way of knowing that over the course of three years, I would make my own wedding invitations and eventually start my own smll business making custom invitations and announcements. Broadway Paper opened my eyes to the fanciful world of paper that has changed my life.

Glad to see the feature here :)
