One of the best parts about what I do is the people I get to meet – truly. And getting to know Jill Rosenwald, calling her a friend, has been a pretty great work perk. Earlier this month while I was in Boston I had the pleasure of visiting Jill’s studio and seeing how her vibrant pieces come to life.
Each of Jill’s designs is drawn onto the pieces with a pencil, the glaze is then painstakingly applied by hand. This gives her bold graphics a warmth and richness that makes her work particularly alluring. Jill’s use of color is perfect and the metallic gold band finishing each piece is like a brilliant little halo.
My creative life started in a ceramics studio, so being in Jill’s space had me feeling very nostalgic and inspired. And in that same vein it was fun to see what inspires Jill. The space was very clean and warm (with those kilns firing) and there were edited pops of color throughout. Aren’t these Pucci panties awesome? I also loved seeing all of Jill’s patterns and shapes stacked together – it made me want an absurd amount of her pieces.
