It’s batty around here

This weekend a bat snuck into our kitchen. He fluttered around our house at a dizzying pace. No matter what we did we couldn’t catch him, but we sure are enjoying the Halloween Spirit that he brought along.

Halloween means homemade costumes at our house.  This policy has lead to some great collaborations between Tyler and I, including the bat wings and mask you see here. There is a lot of sketching and researching of  materials, discussions that center around comfort and wearability. We have put together some inspired garb over the past few years, but truth be told the creations have been primarily of our choosing.

This year Ridley has had enough of mom and dad assigning his getup and he wants in on the fun. Thank goodness, right?? Not that he didn’t enjoy being a Crayon, a Lego or a bat. He’s just ready to be Batman- no if ands or buts. So we are discussing and scheming and Googling a lot as we hone in on Ridley’s vision of Batman. Our sweet Thatcher (pictured as bat above) is game to be Robin – a true collaborator!

  1. Thatcher is the perfect “Boy Wonder” – a little mysterious and surprisingly resourceful – the perfect Halloween accomplice! Love the bat mask and wings too :)
